Here's why I find the rex vs Spino scene in JP3 absurd. Take a look at the photo in my sig. Notice that there is no way the spinosaur's jaws can open wide enough to bite down on the rex's neck. And even if it did--compare the weak neck muscles of the spino with that of the rex. There is no way the spino could exert enough bite force to break the tyrannosaur's built neck. Had the spinosaur despatched the tyrannosaur by slashing it with its claws, there would have been much less disbelief. Discussions of what an actual t-rex and a real-life spinosaur would have done (e.g. if the spino were bigger, etc) if they met are irrelevant; in a science fiction or fantasy movie there must be logic and verisimilitude within the assumptions and parameters it sets up for itself. The only way that death scene could have taken place is if they fudged with the CGI of the spino. But really, what can be expected from Jack Horner, who co-wrote JP3?

I take JP/// for what it is; A tounge in cheek, mindless action film. Not a WWD 90 minute special.

I like tongue-in-cheek films myself ;D even cheesy ones (long live Godzilla! ) , as long as they're well made and/or unpretentious. Jp3 felt like hackwork.

The 1998 Godzilla remake? That movie is great, it's just a shame not many people think highly of it.

I think I found the 'inspiration'--I doubt it's the right term, but anyway--for Spielberg''s supposed dilophosaur in JP. I was browsing for dinos and saw this figure, from the Japanese movie series featuring Gamera, a giant flying turtle. Here's "Zedus":

Afraid you're wrong there. That creature is going to be in the new Gamera movie, hitting cinemas in Japan this year. He's an all new design and likely inspired by the JP Dilo.

As reported in several sites, including the 'other' site, the oracle Spielberg has pronounced on the future of Jurassic Park IV. We can forget being excited about the prospects for this one: Joe Johnston is coming back Spielberg actually thought JP3 was a clever and witty film ('clever' and 'witty' are the last words I'd associate with JP--or dinosaurs for that matter. What happened to gory and frightening?) He even thinks some scenes in JP3 are as good as the original Online, there’s been talk about Breck Eisner on ‘Jurassic Park IV.’
Spielberg: That’s not true. Joe Johnston is standing by.
Awalt: First dibs on it?
Spielberg: First dibs on it, and Joe is my go-to ‘Jurassic’ guy now.
Awalt: There’s been talk about Joe Johnston that says he took the negative flack about ‘Jurassic Park III,’ and said in public that any faults with the film are his faults. There was talk that you didn’t care for the film, but it was profitable, and I’ve never heard you badmouth it in public, and I doubt you would, but…
Spielberg: Oh no, I don’t feel that way at all! I think the film is witty and clever, and I think Joe did an amazing job putting together those battles. And I think those battles Joe put together… I was jealous of the spinosaurus attack on the airplane! That scene where the spinosaurus attacks the airplane and the passengers inside the airplane was every bit as good as I thought the main road attack in ‘Jurassic Park’ was. So I’m a huge fan of Joe’s, and he’s the right guy to do the fourth one.The only good thing to come out of JP 4 will probably be the dinosaurs Papo copies--erm, finds inspiration from ;D

Witty and clever? That's the last thing I'd think it was.

It's disturbing to think how a supposedly great movie director could have such dubious taste in movies

I suppose we can now officially proclaim that unless some miracle of divine intervention rescucitates the franchise with some truly original ideas, the Jurassic Park series is dead, and deserves to be so. We'll have to wait 20 or so years for somebody with new perspectives, and more talent, to revive it by remaking the original.

Heh, if the report on the 'other' site and dansjp3page is true about the raptors in JP4... *Imagines scene with feathered raptors firing AK-47's and screaming lines like "Die, you f***in' stinkin' hairy synapsid! The diapsids are takin' over!"* ;D Thank goodness my only association with JP is the Papo dinosaur line...

Spider-Man will save everyone from gun-wielding Dinosaurs.
I, personally, don't have a problem with Dinosaurs in cities. BUT, I would want them to stay, well, Dinosaurs, and have no feathers. But with the way things are going (look at Carnegie's 2006 stuff) the Dinosaurs will most likely have feathers all over them. =/

Feathers are unfortunately all the rage Someone should tar and feather anyone who decides to put fuzz on the dinosaurs in JP4.
