Hmm, it indeed does look like it was influenced by the style of Todd Marshall, he puts ornamental spines on the back of his critters. Allosaurus jimmadensi. Papo just transferred the spiky neck pouch to the top of their figure's head ;D

*Wonders how much the Papo allosaurus will cost* I'm thinking about the same as the tyrannosaurus, around 18-22 USD--that is, if the US dollar doesn't devalue any further.

Emperor Dinobot returns to comment, post Papo-Allosaurus, following his slagging off of the Papo range, which so upset our very own Piltdown:
"It still looks like that damn Jurassic Park Tyrannosaurus. Otherwise, he looks badass. It’ll probably be my only Papo."

I don't see the resemblance in the stance or scale ornamentation or color or snout or other details with the JP tyrannosaurus. In fact, if I recall correctly the first comment of the JP fans is that the Papo allosaurus has nothing to do with Jurassic Park. EmperorDinobot should have his eyes examined, though I suspect it's his aesthetic taste (or more accurately the woeful absence of it) that is the root of his problems with Papo. ;D

It is with great pleasure to announce that for 2008 Papo will be releasing an allosaurus. And it doesn't look like anything from JP I wonder where they copied it from ;D They needed my negative influence to produce something more original ;D

I just wanted to say, I don't like the grey blobs on the Stegosaurus plates.
That is all.

The stegosaurus felt slighted at the remark on her blotches ;D Seriously though, the grey blobs came straight from the Lost World stegosaurus, so I'm not surprised they are there. I'd be astonished if they weren't, given Papo's aesthetic decisions till this year ;D I prefer the reddish hue to the plates--although it must be said that every stegosaur on display in my apartment (WwD, Kinto, Bullyland, Schleich) has those red plates, and so does Wild Safari's new stegosaur, so hopefully someone will come up with a more original paint scheme soon
