I did a talk about dinosaurs to a grade 2 class in Lac La Biche. Read:
I took my best replica dinosaurs, and much to the dissapointment of the children I didn't pass them around. They are way to delicate for little hands. I did let the children get up close after the talk and look at them for as long as they wanted to.
I did a quick talk on "T-Rex", "Triceratops", "Brachiosaurus", and "Parasaurolophus". After them, I did two non-dinosaurs called "Pteranodon" and "Liopleurodon". When I finished one dinosaur, I answer questions about that dino. I then moved onto a segment called "Jurassic Park Myths", and "T-Rex: Scavenger or Hunter". When that was done, I answered questions about any dinosaur.
Before the computer session, the teacher of the class brought me a really good tart. She then told me to head down to the teacher's lounge for a glass of water. I grabbed a mug out of the cupboard and had my water. The staff were probably like "New guy?". On the way back to the class I stopped in to talk to another teacher who I had played floor hockey with all winter. He told his class if they wanted to see a good goalie play, watch me sometime. ;D
Back in the class, I showed them some stuff on the computer. After about fifteen minutes the computer lab opened up (a test was being done in it), so we went down there. The computers and tables were all new, much different than when I went to school there. I used the main computer, which projected onto a large screen. It was cool looking at those pictures of dinos on that! I also walked along making sure everyone could get to the sites I listed.
The teacher said she might want me back in June to hear everyone's reports on dinosaurs. I said I would love that so it looks like I have another session before the school year is done! ;D
I was actually tought by the same teacher, 7 years ago when I was in grade 2.
