Of course the fact that they're based on the JP dinos has no bearing on the quality of the product, but it does make them more interesting for certain people, for one reason or another. Personally, the JP incarnations are my favorite cinematic take on dinosaurs. I know they aren't entirely scientifically accurate in many cases, but then, there's no single dinosaur we know exactly what it looked or acted like anyway, and JP is a fictional movie intended as entertainment first and foremost, so it doesn't matter to me.
It is unfortunate that they overshadow other attempts to portray dinosaurs (as accurately as possible, or as movie monsters), but we can't blame the movie(s) for that, just the narrow minded people that view JP's dinosaurs as the be-all and end-all take on the animals.

Richard, you can file the spikes away (though it would be a shame, as the spikiness makes it distinguishable from other allosaur toys). That's what I do to dinosaur figures with feathers ;D *Whets knife for Wild Safari oviraptor on nest figure* *Is pained at the prospect of the expected announcement of the new Bullyland velociraptor on the Dinosaur Toy Blog* ;D what do you mean, are they disposable?

No, he means you can customize it by filing the spikes. I would not even consider damaging a Papo figure, though ;D

I wouldn't damage any figure - the furthest I have gone was to paint an invicta pliosaur and Diplodocus because I had duplicates. I ended up washng them anyway. It just seems wrong to me, if you don't like a figure, don't buy it. Why modify when you can creat from scratch?

I never said I didn't like it, indeed I love that figure, but the spikes remind me godzilla
