Aside from the amargasaurus and oviraptor re-sculpt (for the worse--more fuddurs ), apparently Safari has decided to repaint many of the sculpts in production. Whether this is an improvement or not is a matter of debate. Here are some of those new colour schemes:
Tanystropheus--this scheme is less green:
Carnotaurus: -- it still has the deer in headlights eyes though.
Iguanodon--from grey to brown:
Spinosaurus. Cool scheme--but why didn't they make the snout more accurate? Still looks allosaurish.
Parasaurolophus--now this seems like an improvement. They toned down the yellow face, and made the crest flashy red.
Elasmosaurus--from brown to grey. This is also a step up, it now looks almost as good as Bullyland (though I still like Schleich's uniform grey)
Stegosaurus--brown to green, with red plates. The sculpt still looks too bulky though.
Allosaurus--from green to grey & red. A refreshing change.
Velociraptor--the inspiration for this color scheme is almost certainly Papo
Brachiosaurus--from grey to green. It looks like its smaller Wild Safari counterpart.
Triceratops. They revived an old sculpt and recoloured it. Alas, it still looks as awkward as ever. This is the grumpiest dinosaur I've seen--look at its snout.
Quetzalcoatlus--grey to beige. Imitating Schleich, of all people.
Wild Safari, on the other hand, has dramatically improved. They have, of all things, a dunkleosteus
Wild Safari has resculpted its t-rex, for the better.
They have a 'pterosaur'. Looks cool
The trike has a better colour scheme, but its beak looks weird. Not recommended, especially for those accustomed to Papo.
The allosaur is mercifully no longer yellow. It has a green body with a red-orange head, which reminds me somewhat of the JP3 ceratosaurus.
The stegosaurus, alas, is getting less attractive. It has turned green.
Dodo. Not a dinosaur, but still extinct. ;D A cool fig
They recoloured the velociraptor mongoliensis. More proto-Papo
This is going to be a better year than I anticipated. I'm getting the new Wild Safari dinos, plus some of the recoloured Carnegie.
